Yacht Insurance

Overview

Yachts and boats are expensive assets that need to be adequately insured, just like any other mode of transportation does. Whether it’s a superyacht, sailing boat or a smaller speed boat, if you are lucky enough to own one, make sure you enjoy every minute on it, sailing, fishing or having a party with your friends, by obtaining the right Insurance coverage.

Truth be told, given the unpredictability of the seas, pleasure crafts are subject to a range of damage and liability risks which can amount to a substantial financial loss.

At Edge, we can tailor a best fit yacht insurance policy once we understand more about the type of boat that you’re looking to insure, by trolling the insurance market for the best insurance options offering comprehensive coverage and the most competitive pricing.

What is Yacht Insurance?

Yacht Insurance covers Hull & Machinery, Collision and Legal Liabilities. The comprehensive cover option responds to accidental loss or damage to your boat and protects your liabilities towards third parties. This should include the hull, machinery and outboard motors.

A Third Party Liability only cover can also be provided, which will cover your liability towards third parties – including guests onboard your boat.

There is no cover for your own boat under this option. Both options can be customized with specific extensions to broaden the coverage.

What can be mainly covered under the comprehensive option?

Loss of or Damage to your Boat

Your boat, its machinery, equipment and trailer are covered against loss or damage caused by an insured peril or theft whether at sea, moored, kept on land or whilst in transit.

Third Party Bodily Injury and Property Damage

Offers protection for your legal liability in the event of accidental loss of life or injury caused to others (include the guests on board your boat) and/or damage to third party property (including wreck removal).

Personal Effects on board your boat

Your personal belongings are covered against loss or damage when following forcible or violent entry into the vessel.

Personal Accident Cover

Offers coverage to you, your spouse and children in the event of accidental physical injury sustained from the use of the vessel resulting in, death or disappearance at sea, permanent disability or related medical expenses.

Uninsured Boater Liability Coverage

Pays for bodily injury to persons aboard the insured watercraft caused by an uninsured (or unknown) owner or operator of another vessel.

Liabilities to and from water skiers

When you are doing watersports, cover can be provided for your legal liability to or from water skiers.
